Over 100 years of experience with hydropower.

BKKs first hydroelectric power plant was put into operation in 1912. Since then, we have been involved in the hydropower business.

 

For more than a decade BKK has been involved in international projects worldwide. Within the business area Energy, new international hydropower production represents the half of the company’s growth strategy.

  • In Nepal, BKK holds a 26 per cent ownership of Himal Power Limited, which operates the Khimti-I plant.Together with our partners, we are developing the KIRNE project in Nepal.
  • BKK holds a 20 per cent ownership in the company AQUA IMARA which develops, refurbishes, acquires and thereby own and operate hydropower projects in Africa and Central America. BKK is actively participating in the development of the company.
  • BKK has defined Turkey as a new market and searches for business opportunities in the country through cooperation with local market players. We seek to accomplish our growth target through a combination of acquisition, refurbishment and development of medium scale hydropower projects.

BKK has a unique in-house competence, covering the whole span of hydropower development and operation.
